Drawing II Invented Environments

The Invented Environments Project challenged Drawing II students to design an original landscape by combining three copyright-free images based on written prompts. This was their first experience creating a drawing from a digitally collaged reference. Students used photo editing software to merge their selected landscapes into a unified composition, applying their knowledge of the rule of thirds and focal point from Drawing I. They then transferred their composition onto toned paper and completed the final piece in colored pencil, carefully refining lighting, color relationships, and details to seamlessly unify the blended imagery into a convincing invented environment.
